An alternative to Tempo’s original Studio, the Move leverages your iPhone to capture workouts and connects directly to your own TV. Paired with this, the affordable price point means the Move fits into more people’s lives - bringing accessibility to health and wellness to even more of us.

The Move is unlike anything you would find in a gym. The bent sheet metal body unifies the console with the language of Tempo’s original Studio, while the warmth of natural materials and textiles make it tactile and comforting.

At the heart of the product is an iPhone dock that positions the phone's cameras at precisely the correct height and angle. This “Core” is removable, using HDMI as a universal connection that allows the Move to work with almost all makes and models of TV. Hidden interior channels route the cable, and little rubber feet on the base protect your floors while raising the door height just enough to slip it over your carpet as you open it.

Materials, colors and finishes were iterated around as we considered how best to create a discrete piece of furniture that could be universally flattering within homes. Fabric swatches were gathered and wood samples inspected until we felt the right combinations had fallen into place.

Fabric doors hug the metal chassis, their ribbed and bonded structure wrapping the corners with the satisfying grip of magnets. Tabs guide the user's hand, making it easy to release the magnetic strength and access the unit from either side.

Designed to live in the tightest of spaces, the unit houses up to 16 weight plates, 2 dumbbells, 4 weight collars and a heart rate monitor. The thoughtful interior holds the weights vertically, with tray grooves distributed for easy grabbing and a soft chamfer which allows weights to roll-in smoothly.

Physical mockups were a fundamental tool throughout our process to ensure we were iterating realistically around scale and accessibility. Various configurations unfurled as we went into a deep review around balancing proportions with shape.
